OMAHA ROLLER DERBY

We Want You! Bootcamp begins October 14th.

If you ask any of the skaters what they love about derby, you would get a wide range of answers from the friends they have met, or the competitive spirit of the game or a place to release their aggression. Whatever your draw is to become a roller girl, we guarantee you will find being an Omaha Rollergirl extremely rewarding.

Wanna be a Roller Girl?

Any female 19 and over can try out to be a skater. We recruit girls of all backgrounds. You don’t have to be a speed skater or even an awesome skater. We hold annual Bootcamp Sessions that teach you everything you will need to know about skating, falling, and how to be an awesome derby girl. What playing roller derby requires is dedication, both financially and through your time and a good attitude.

If I make it through Bootcamp Testing (Tryouts), what can I expect?

1. Pay monthly dues of $35 and an annual insurance fee of $55
2. Attend at least 2-3 practices a week
3. Purchase your own gear and keep all equipment in good shape
4. Work hard and play hard all the time
5. Adhere to the Omaha Rollergirls Bylaws & Code of Conduct
6. Be part of Omaha’s fastest growing sport and be a part of the best female sport around!

But if the recruitment period has passed what do I do?

If we are not actively recruiting we could still use your talents and time! We are always looking for help at our games including score keepers, non-skating officials and stats keepers. If you are interested in helping in this capacity please email our Recruitment Director. This is the best way to get an idea of what to expect and also show the girls you are dedicated to helping the league grow!

And to prep you for our recruitment period hit your local skating rink and work on some minimum skills (see Appendix A: WFTDA Minimum Skill Requirements), read up on the rules and come watch the Omaha Rollergirls in action!
