ORG to screen Derby, Baby! documentary in September

The Omaha Rollergirls and our partner Aksarben Cinema are hosting an exclusive one night screening of the Derby, Baby: A Story of Love, Addiction and Rink Rash on September 18th. Omaha, NE is one of only 148 cities worldwide to screen the documentary which examines women’s flat track roller derby from a cultural perspective, highlighting the passion that athletes and fans alike share for this sport.

Tickets will be available for purchase online and at the cinema beginning on Tuesday, August 28th.

“Derby, Baby!” examines women’s flat track roller derby from a cultural perspective, highlighting the passion that athletes and fans alike share for this sport. It helps explain why women’s flat track roller derby and the WFTDA has seen such explosive growth over the past decade, and considers what is next for the sport and the grassroots movement that has propelled the growth.

– Narrated by actor and musician Juliette Lewis
– Filmed by Emmy-Award-winning filmmakers Robin Bond and Dave Wruck
– Features interviews with top WFTDA skaters as well announcers and other staff who are household names among the sport’s hardcore fan base

”Derby, Baby!” is currently wrapping up on the film festival circuit. The film premiered on the East Coast at the Atlanta Film Festival on March 31 and on the West Coast at the Sonoma International Film Festival on April 14.
